Donating to our Collection
Go down in history!
Some of our most-prized and interesting items have come from the residents of Cecil County by way of donations. While we’re always happy to consider any piece for our collection, not every piece is appropriate for the Historical Society. In general, we are looking for anything that helps tell the story of Cecil County from a historical perspective. Typical items may include:
- Letters
- Photographs
- Drawings / Paintings
- Maps / Manuscripts
- Books / Publications
- Clothing
- Tools
- Glassware
If you should happen upon any items that may have historic significance and you are interested in making a donation, please contact the HSCC with a brief description, a photo and any documentation or provenance that can place the age and legitimacy of the piece. If accepted, you can feel secure in the fact that your donation will be preserved for generations to come (and you’ll receive a named credit when the item is displayed too!).
