HSCC Exhibit: Cecil County and the Great War

The Historical Society of Cecil County welcomes you to the 100^th anniversary of Cecil County’s entry into World War I.  This exhibit offers an entrancing glimpse into the history of WWI, as well as what life was like in Cecil County during the time.  The society is proud to highlight a variety of artifacts and textiles that were owned, worn, and written by Cecil County residents that either served in the war or lived in the county during the time.

A tremendous amount of dedication has gone into this amazing exhibit.  The Historical Society’s curators and volunteers have spent months planning, researching, collecting, and combing through the Society’s numerous artifacts that it has received via donation over the years.  The Society has also received special support from the University of Delaware’s Museum Studies team who spent two weeks in January assisting with identifying clothing from the period, offering tips for preservation, and cataloging each textile. 

This exhibit has received a tremendous outpouring from volunteers and community members that have done their bit and contributed in a variety of ways.  From family heirlooms to monetary donations, this exhibit would not have been possible without the support of our community.
